A tense atmosphere has engulfed the Chiraa community in the Sunyani West District following the killing of a 36-year-old man, identified only as Akwasi, over allegations of goat theft.

The incident has left residents in shock and raised concerns about mob justice and security in the area.

According to the deceased’s mother, Akwasi’s death followed threats allegedly issued days earlier by a community member who accused him of stealing a goat.

She claimed the aggrieved owner confronted Akwasi and threatened to kill him if the missing animal was not returned within three days.

However, before the deadline expired or the matter could be resolved through legal channels, Akwasi was found dead under circumstances believed to involve foul play.

Although the identity of the killer remains unknown, the family has expressed suspicion toward the owner of the goat.

Police have reportedly been informed and have launched investigations into the incident.

Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Nana Kwame said authorities are searching for the goat owner for questioning, as well as potential eyewitnesses who may assist with investigations and the arrest of those responsible.
