The Ellembelle District Chief Imam, Mustapha Kofi Buah, has urged Muslim youth to avoid traveling abroad in search of economic fortunes, warning that many Ghanaians living overseas are subjected to inhumane treatment.

Speaking during Eid-ul-Adha celebrations at Kamgbunli, he encouraged young people to contribute to national development by staying in Ghana and helping to build the country rather than risking hardship abroad.

He cited the experiences of some Ghanaians in South Africa as an example of the challenges and poor conditions many migrants face.

The Chief Imam also called on Muslim faithful to intensify prayers for peace, unity, and love, stressing that these values are essential for national development.

He further urged Muslims to be law-abiding citizens and to shun violence, deceit, and other immoral lifestyles.

Earlier, thousands of Muslims converged on a school field in Kamgbunli to observe the Eid Salat. Eid-ul-Adha is one of the most significant festivals in Islam and is observed during the 12th month of the Islamic calendar.

The Chief Imam advised Muslim youth to stay away from activities that tarnish the image of Islam, including smoking, drunkenness, theft, and drug abuse.

"As future leaders, you ought to stay away from drugs and other activities that could jeopardize your future and instead draw closer to Allah," he said.

The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, commended the Muslim community for its spiritual guidance and continuous prayers, which he said have contributed to the peace Ghana currently enjoys.

He noted that the government remains committed to the development of the area and highlighted ongoing projects, including the construction of teachers' quarters and a six-unit classroom block.

Armah-Kofi Buah also disclosed that the Uthman Bin Affan Islamic Senior High School (UBAISH) had been recognized as one of the leading science schools in Ghana and would receive additional facilities to support teaching and learning.

He further stated that the government had employed a significant number of young people in the area and would continue to create more employment opportunities to help reduce unemployment among the youth.
