The newly 6-unit classroom block built by Ellembelle MP at NASS
The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle in the Western Region and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has handed over a GH¢1.2 million 6-unit classroom block to Nkroful Agricultural Senior High School, NASS.
The facility, constructed by MacWest Construction Limited, is expected to ease congestion and improve teaching and learning conditions for students at the agric-focused SHS. The project forms part of ongoing efforts to expand educational infrastructure in the constituency.
Speaking at the handover ceremony on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Armah-Kofi Buah reaffirmed his commitment to education, describing it as the “surest way to secure the future of Ellembelle’s youth.”
He pledged further support for the school: “Headmaster, we will work with you to build a 12-unit classroom block to make NASS a single-track school,” he stated.
The Minister also commended the headmaster for introducing TVET in the school and promised to support the programme. “In the 21st century, we must prepare our students for the world of work. If you don’t equip yourself with skills, you can’t compete in this difficult world. This school is on the right track and with the support of the DCE we will back this initiative,” he said.
Armah-Kofi Buah further assured the headmaster that he would liaise with GNPC to complete the abandoned girls’ dormitory project that started in 2021.
He also pledged to work on other challenges facing senior high schools in the district.
The headmaster of the school, Joseph Blay, thanked the MP for the facility and promised to maintain it.
He highlighted urgent needs: an additional 12-unit classroom block, more cooks, teachers and security, a well-furnished Home Economics facility, sewing machines for the department, and a vehicle for the school.
He prayed for the MP: “We pray to God to grant you good health, long life, and more resources so when requests come, you never hesitate to help the school.”
The District Chief Executive for the area, Joseph Agyekum, praised Armah-Kofi Buah for using part of his MP’s Common Fund to build the project.
“Our MP has done well. He is the first MP in Ghana to start and complete a school project under President John Mahama’s government. I want to place it on record that this project is funded by the MP,” he said.
He, therefore, seized the opportunity to urge the students to take their studies seriously.
Chief of Nkroful, Nana Kwasi Kutuah V, also expressed gratitude and appealed to the MP to lobby for a district hospital to serve students, staff, and residents.
School authorities said the new block comes at a critical time as enrolment at NASS exceeds 2,000 students across several programmes.
Some of the students who spoke to Daniel Kaku at the ceremony expressed gratitude to the MP and promised to take their academic work seriously in order to make their parents proud at the end of their stay in the school.
