The newly installed Muslim Youth Chief of Tema, Mohammed Elias, has pledged to champion youth empowerment, job creation and sustainable development across Zongo communities in the Tema Metropolis.

Mohammed Elias, who was officially enstooled as the Sarkin Samari Zongo of the Tema Muslim Community, made the commitment during a colourful coronation ceremony held in Tema.

The historic event, described as the first of its kind in the Tema Muslim Community, brought together prominent personalities, including the National Chief Imam, Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu; former Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegation, traditional leaders, religious leaders and community members.

The ceremony also saw the installation of two deputies, including Sumaila Adjetey Agaby, Assemblyman for the Oklor-Kofi Electoral Area and Sub-Metro Chairman for Tema East, who was outdoored as the Sarki Yaaki of the Tema Muslim Community.

Addressing the gathering, Mohammed Elias expressed appreciation to the youth for the confidence reposed in him and promised to lead with humility, dedication and a strong commitment to improving the lives of young people.

He identified unemployment as one of the major challenges confronting the youth in Zongo communities and assured residents that he would use his experience, networks and partnerships with relevant institutions to create opportunities for young people.

The new Muslim Youth Chief, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of One God Forever Limited and President of the Ghana Retired Footballers Welfare Association, said his leadership would focus on youth empowerment, skills development and initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods.

Sumaila Adjetey Agaby, who serves as the Sarki Yaaki of the Tema Muslim Community, highlighted some of the developmental challenges affecting Zongo communities in Tema.

He cited concerns such as youth unemployment, infrastructure deficits and the need for greater support for social development initiatives.

He assured residents that the new leadership would work closely with stakeholders to address these challenges and promote progress within the community.

The spokesperson for the Tema Traditional Council, Nii Armah Somponu, congratulated the newly installed chiefs and urged them to promote peace, unity and cooperation among residents.

He called on the new leadership to work hand in hand with traditional authorities, government institutions and community members to accelerate development within the Tema Muslim Community.

The event was also attended by former Deputy Transport Minister, Titus-Glover; NPP representatives and other dignitaries, who joined community members to celebrate the historic occasion.

The new leadership of the Tema Muslim Community has pledged to build a stronger, more united and progressive community where young people will have access to opportunities for growth and success.
