A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Communication Team in Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Kingsley Edmund Baidoo, has officially announced his intention to contest for the position of Constituency Chairman ahead of the party's upcoming constituency executive elections.

Baidoo made the declaration at a press conference in Tarkwa on Friday, saying the decision followed months of consultations with grassroots members, constituency elders, regional executives, and national party figures.

According to him, the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency is at a critical point in its political history and requires experienced leadership to navigate the challenges ahead.

"Tarkwa-Nsuaem is at a defining moment in its political history. The constituency requires leadership that understands the terrain, appreciates the electoral dynamics, and possesses the experience necessary to navigate the challenges ahead," he stated.

Baidoo, who has been involved in the NPP since the 1990s, recounted his long service to the party, including roles as a polling agent, constituency Financial Secretary, fundraiser, and member of the Communication Team.

He argued that his extensive political experience and institutional memory place him in a strong position to lead the constituency.

"Among my contemporaries seeking this position, I stand as first among equals—not because I am better than anyone else, but because of the depth of my political experience, institutional memory, and longstanding service to the New Patriotic Party," he said.

The aspiring chairman expressed concern about what he described as the declining electoral fortunes of the NPP in Tarkwa-Nsuaem, warning that the constituency could become a highly competitive swing seat if urgent measures are not taken.

"Since 2020, our vote margins have consistently declined. If urgent measures are not taken, this constituency could become a highly competitive swing seat. This is not the time for complacency," he noted.

Baidoo also acknowledged internal challenges within the party, including factionalism, apathy, and concerns among some members who feel marginalized.

"There is factionalism within the party. There is growing apathy among sections of our membership. Some members feel marginalized, while others feel discriminated against and neglected," he stated.

He pledged to use his background in Alternative Dispute Resolution and conflict management to unite party members and restore confidence within the constituency.

"My leadership will be anchored on inclusion, dialogue, reconciliation, and collective progress," he assured.

Touching on ongoing legal disputes surrounding recent internal party matters, Baidoo declined to comment, citing respect for the judicial process.

"The matter is currently before a court of competent jurisdiction, and as someone trained in the law and who deeply respects the rule of law, I shall allow the wheels of justice to take their course," he said.

He further called on the current constituency leadership to ensure fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to the party's constitution during the upcoming internal elections.

"It is my sincere hope and prayer that the current leadership of the constituency will act strictly within the confines of the party's constitution and guidelines so that peace, fairness, and transparency will prevail," he stated.

Baidoo concluded by appealing to delegates and party faithful to support his vision of rebuilding confidence, restoring unity, and positioning the NPP for electoral success in the 2028 general elections.

"Together, let us rebuild confidence, restore unity, and reposition our beloved party for success," he said.
