An executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bantama constituency has accused the Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, of running the local party branch like a personal business and of collapsing its grassroots foundation through a divisive, segregationist leadership style.

The polling station executive, who identified himself as Emmanuel Akwasi Sarfo(Emma), alleged that the lawmaker has consistently spearheaded the deletion of dedicated party members' names from the electoral register under the pretext that he cannot work with them.

"The 'I cannot work with you' attitude of Asenso-Boakye is collapsing the Bantama NPP. The party is not his private company, and it is high time he stopped treating it as such."

Emma revealed that he has served the NPP under several previous Members of Parliament and constituency executives, but has never witnessed the level of internal division currently plaguing the constituency. He described the MP’s approach as highly polarising and warned that it is actively dismantling the party’s grassroots structure.

He made a passionate appeal to the national leadership of the NPP to intervene immediately to save the Bantama constituency before the internal cracks become irreparable ahead of the general elections.

"Bantama's immense contribution to the NPP in terms of numbers can never be underestimated. Unfortunately, ever since Asenso-Boakye took office as MP, we have been losing frustrated members to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) due to his divisive behaviour. We cannot afford to lose our numbers." He revealed.

Emma’s outburst follows a highly volatile confrontation on Monday, June 22, at the Bantama NPP constituency office.

A dispute over the compilation of the electoral album between the Constituency Chairman, Fiifi Mensah, and the First Vice Chairman, Kingsley Attah, led to a near-clash among rival party supporters. The situation escalated to the point where personnel from the Suntreso District Police Command had to deploy to the scene to restore order and invite key executives for questioning.

Grassroots members like Emma believe the incident is a direct consequence of long-simmering frustrations over how the party register is being managed by those loyal to the Member of Parliament.

Efforts to reach the MP, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, for a response to these specific allegations of division and register manipulation were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
