The National Chief of the Chamba Ethnic Group of Ghana, Ubwayaa Alhaji Ibrahim Hudu Kuta IV, undertook a historic visit to Chamba in the Nanumba North Municipality, the ancestral homeland of the Chamba people, as part of activities marking his accession to the national skin.

He was accompanied by members of the Council of Elders and other distinguished dignitaries drawn from various Chamba communities throughout Ghana. Their presence reflected the unity of the Chamba people and their shared commitment to preserving their cultural heritage.

It would be recalled that following the passing of His Royal Majesty Ubwayaa Zakaria Tahiru Kuta III (Zorsimdi Naa I), the Chamba Traditional Council and representatives of Chamba communities across Ghana duly selected and installed Ubwayaa Alhaji Ibrahim Hudu Kuta IV as the National Chief of the Chamba people of Ghana.

The visit was therefore intended to reaffirm the enduring historical and cultural ties between the Chamba people and their ancestral homeland, while also strengthening the cordial relationship that exists between them and the present custodians of Chamba Town in the Nanumba North Municipality of the Northern Region of Ghana.

During the visit, the Chief and his delegation were warmly received by traditional authorities and community leaders.

In recognition of the longstanding historical connection between the Chamba people and Nanumba, the traditional authorities, led by His Royal Highness Chamba Naa Mohammed Alaji Wumbei, bestowed upon Ubwayaa Alhaji Ibrahim Hudu Kuta IV the title of Zorsimdi Naa II, a title customarily and exclusively conferred upon the Head Chief of the Chamba Ethnic Group as a symbol of the authority, continuity, and legitimacy of his office. This was followed by customary rites and traditional performances.

The conferment of the title also symbolized mutual respect, friendship, and acknowledgement of the historical bonds linking the Chamba people and the Nanumba people. It further reflected the commitment of both communities to peaceful coexistence, cultural preservation, and continued cooperation.

Addressing the gathering, Ubwayaa Alhaji Ibrahim Hudu Kuta IV reaffirmed his dedication to the welfare, unity, and progress of Chamba communities throughout Ghana while upholding the traditions and values inherited from his forebears.

The Chamba Traditional Council reiterated that the authority and mandate of Ubwayaa Alhaji Ibrahim Hudu Kuta IV as National Chief derive from the customary institutions and the collective will of the Chamba people across Ghana. The ceremonies performed in Chamba and Nanumba North therefore served as a cultural homecoming and a reaffirmation of historical ties, complementing the installation already carried out by the Chamba people.

As part of the visit, Ubwayaa Alhaji Ibrahim Hudu Kuta IV and his delegation paid a courtesy call on His Majesty Nyelinbolgu Na Yakubu Andani Dasana Abdulai, Regent of Bimbila, the Municipal Capital and traditional seat of authority in the area.

The visit was intended to express the profound gratitude of the Chamba people for the Regent's participation in the funeral rites of the late His Royal Majesty Ubwayaa Zakaria Tahiru Kuta III (Zorsimdi Naa I). It also provided an opportunity to formally introduce Ubwayaa Alhaji Ibrahim Hudu Kuta IV as the newly installed National Chief of the Chamba people.

The visit concluded with expressions of goodwill from both sides and a shared commitment to strengthening cultural relations, promoting development initiatives, and preserving the rich heritage of future generations.
