Seven schools have qualified for the semi-final stage of the Perfect Series Basic Schools Assessment Contest following the completion of the quarter-final stage held at Accra Academy.

The contest, which is organised in two sectors, the northern and southern sectors, brings together basic schools from across the country to compete in academic excellence.

Speaking after the competition on June 25, 2026, the Lead Examiner, Martin Opoku, explained that the northern sector comprises schools from the Ashanti Region and other northern belt regions, while the southern sector includes schools from the Greater Accra Region and surrounding areas.

According to him, the northern sector has already concluded its quarter-final stage, with three schools selected for the national finals. The southern sector has now followed suit after the latest round of competition.

“So, what we did here today was the quarter-final contest. After the audition stage, nine schools qualified, but two have been eliminated. We now have seven schools progressing to the next stage, which is the semi-finals,” he said.

He added that the national final is expected to be held on July 10 at Accra Academy Senior High School.

Opoku further disclosed that the winner of the national competition will receive a cash prize of GH¢ 25,000, along with additional educational items. Other prizes include laptops, televisions, refrigerators, tablets, books, trophies, medals, plaques and citations for participating schools.

At the quarter-final stage, 8 schools participated, with two being eliminated based on accumulated points out of a total of 400.

Good Shepherd Methodist School Complex scored a total of 240.5 points, while Bishop Bower School recorded 352 points. Mamprobi Salvation Army Basic School A achieved 365.5 points.

Abossey Okai Anglican Basic B scored 195 points, Ideal Community School secured 385.5 points and St. Teresa School obtained 315.5 points.

Shalom Angel Montessori School recorded 144 points, Mamprobi Salvation Army Basic B achieved 346.5 points and New Hope School scored 281.5 points.

Following the results, six schools advanced to the semi-finals, while the two lowest-scoring schools were eliminated from the contest.

A teacher at Salvation Army B School, Mavis Selby, encouraged parents to take a more active role in the education and upbringing of their children.

One of the student contestants from Bishop Bower School, Sethenam Ametekpe, said the quiz had broadened his understanding and improved his problem-solving skills.

He noted that although some questions were challenging, he did his best.
