The event honoured 41 students and 12 schools
The British Council on Friday celebrated outstanding academic achievement at the 2026 Partner Schools Awards, recognising top-performing students and schools across Ghana based on Cambridge International Examinations results.
The event honoured 41 students and 12 schools, who received trophies, gift sets and certificates for excellence in teaching and learning. The ceremony brought together students, parents, school leaders, teachers and education stakeholders from the British Council Partner Schools network to celebrate academic performance.
Held in Accra, the awards recognised high-achieving students across various Cambridge International subjects through Best in Subject Awards, Star Performer Awards and the Overall Best Student Award.
Schools were also recognised for strong performance in both the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A-Level examinations, including awards for Overall Best IGCSE School and Overall Best A-Level School.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nii Doodo Dodoo, Country Director of the British Council Ghana, congratulated the award recipients and praised the contributions of teachers, parents and school leaders.
He said: “Today we celebrate more than examination results. We celebrate dedication, resilience, ambition, and the collective effort of students, teachers, school leaders, and families who have worked tirelessly to achieve excellence. These awards demonstrate the outstanding potential of young people in Ghana and reinforce the importance of quality education in preparing learners for success in an increasingly interconnected world.”
He added that the British Council remains committed to supporting schools through professional development, assessment services, partnerships, capacity building and innovative educational programmes that promote lifelong learning.
“This occasion reflects the strong partnerships we have built over the years with schools, educators, institutions, parents, and learners across Ghana in our shared commitment to quality education and global opportunity,” he said.
He noted that, beyond recognising achievement, the awards also reflect the organisation’s broader mission of promoting excellence, innovation and the transformative power of education.
He further announced that, in collaboration with Academic City University College, the British Council will provide a Presidential Scholarship Package to the Overall Best A-Level School.
He explained that since many of the top-performing students had already progressed to university, the winning A-Level school will nominate its current best A-Level student for the scholarship, which covers tuition, accommodation, medical care, travel expenses and a stipend.
The British Council also recognised Delhi Private School (DPS) International Ghana, which emerged as both national and regional winner of the “Your World” competition under the theme Smarter Choices, Stronger Futures, in recognition of its performance in critical thinking, creativity and global engagement.
