The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed that a petition filed by Awutu Senya East MP Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor is the reason behind the five-month suspension of Constituency Chairman Stephen Ofosu Agyare.
In a letter signed by General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party said its Functional Executive Committee (FEC) considered the MP’s petition together with recommendations from the Central Regional Council of Elders before reaching its decision.
“Having extensively deliberated on the matter, FEC found sufficient basis to invoke the provisions of Article 48(4) and Article 48(6) of the Party’s Constitution,” the letter stated.
The NDC said Ofosu Agyare has been suspended with immediate effect and that the matter has been referred to the National Disciplinary Committee for investigation.
