Dambai Bridge construction expected to be completed by 2029

The government has commenced the construction of the 1.5-kilometre Dambai Bridge in the Oti Region as part of efforts to improve road connectivity and facilitate the movement of people and goods across the country.

The project, which began in January 2026, is expected to be completed in May 2029.

In a post shared on X on August 24, 2026, the government said the Dambai Bridge is one of two major bridges being constructed to span water bodies in Ghana.

“These are the Afram Bridge (3.6 km) in the Eastern Region and the Dambai Bridge (1.5 km) in the Oti Region,” it stated.

The Afram Bridge, measuring 3.6 kilometres, will be the longer of the two projects and is also expected to improve connectivity between communities in the Eastern Region.

According to the government, the projects form part of its broader infrastructure agenda aimed at addressing transportation challenges and improving access to communities separated by major water bodies.

The completion of the Dambai Bridge is expected to enhance transportation in the Oti Region and support economic activities by providing improved and more reliable access across the waterway.
