The Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has appealed for calm and restraint following recent exchanges involving the traditional leaders and people of Gyakiti and Kamenaman/Pesse.

In a statement, the MP urged Nananom, elders, youth and residents of both communities to avoid words or actions that could heighten tensions and undermine the longstanding relationship between the communities.

“We must not allow disagreements to divide communities that have lived together as neighbours for generations,” he said.

Ampem Nyarko cautioned against assigning blame, stressing that issues relating to the shared history, customs and traditional relationships of the communities should be resolved through respectful dialogue guided by truth and tradition.

He disclosed that upon the return of the Paramount Chief of Akwamu, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, he would engage him and other relevant stakeholders to help facilitate an amicable resolution.

“Whatever our differences, we remain one Asuogyaman family. Let us choose understanding over confrontation and preserve the peace we all cherish,” the MP said.
