NDC’s Peter Mensah enters race for Dormaa Central Communications Officer

Peter Mensah, popularly known as “Master Planner”, a staunch member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Dormaa Central Constituency, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Constituency Communications Officer in the party’s upcoming executive elections.

Peter Mensah, who has consistently championed the core values, vision and message of the NDC, believes his long-standing experience in political communication and grassroots mobilisation makes him well positioned to lead the constituency’s communications structure.

According to him, his decision to contest is motivated by the desire to strengthen the party’s communication machinery and introduce a more coordinated approach that combines traditional media with digital platforms.

He indicates that the time has come for the NDC to move beyond relying heavily on radio discussions and serial callers and take advantage of the opportunities provided by social media and other digital technologies to reach party members, supporters and the wider public.

With his extensive experience in social media communication, which he says attracted the attention of President John Dramani Mahama and other NDC leaders ahead of the 2024 elections, he believes he is well positioned to lead the constituency’s Communications Directorate.

Two decades of party communication

Known to many within the constituency as a communication strategist, he has been actively involved in propagating the NDC’s message and supporting the party’s activities for nearly two decades.

Over the years, he has combined traditional media engagement with emerging digital communication platforms to connect with party supporters, promote the party’s programmes and policies, and contribute to its campaign and mobilisation efforts.

His political involvement has not been limited to communication, but has included mobilisation, research, campaign activities, election monitoring and support for party programmes.

Among his cited contributions is his role as founder and financier of NDC Girls Dormaa Central in 2020, through which he said he supported party activities, including the printing of T-shirts and transportation of members to various party rallies.

He is also a founding member of the Stronger Pillars of NDC Dormaa Central and served as Deputy IT Director, a convener and a campaign team member during the constituency's 2020 election campaign.

Besides serving as a social media communicator and polling agent in the 2016, 2020 and 2024 elections, he served as a Good Governance Card Ambassador during the 2024 elections, where he educated the public about the party’s record, policies, achievements and governance commitments to voters.

Vision for stronger communications structure

At the heart of his campaign is a vision to build a stronger, more responsive and modern communications structure within the Dormaa Central NDC, as he believes the constituency needs a well-coordinated system that combines traditional media with digital platforms to effectively communicate the party’s message.

On the welfare of party communicators, he has disclosed his commitment to addressing the challenges confronting serial callers and strengthening the communications department with the resources and support needed to effectively propagate the government’s policies and the party’s programmes.
