A tragedy has struck the Kade community in the Kwaebibirem Municipality of the Eastern Region, following the death of three biological brothers in a motorbike accident.
The deceased have been identified as 26-year-old Abubakar Kamiru, who had recently married, and his two younger brothers, 21-year-old Abdul Bashiru Fataw and 17-year-old Shamshu Seidu.
According to reports, the three brothers were travelling together on a single motorbike to welcome Abubakar’s new bride, or fresh amarya, to the family home.
The accident occurred at the C4C Junction along the main Kade highway, where the motorbike was involved in a collision.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be established, as police have commenced investigations.
Eyewitnesses said the impact threw the three brothers onto the road, leaving them with severe injuries.
Residents and passers-by who witnessed the incident rushed to the scene and attempted to assist the victims before they were taken to a health facility.
However, the three brothers were pronounced dead upon arrival, turning what was expected to be a day of celebration for the family into one of grief and mourning.
Family members, who had been preparing to receive the newly married bride, have described the incident as a devastating blow.
Police officers from the Kade District Command subsequently arrived at the scene to secure the area and facilitate the removal of the bodies to the mortuary for preservation and further examination.
The incident has also renewed calls for road users, particularly motorcyclists, to exercise caution and comply with road safety regulations.
Authorities have urged motorbike riders to avoid carrying more passengers than permitted, wear appropriate protective helmets and observe all traffic regulations.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the precise circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
