60 aspirants vetted for Ellembelle NDC constituency elections

A total of 60 aspirants have been vetted to contest the Ellembelle Constituency executive elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The vetting was held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the AYA Centre in Ampain and was chaired by the NDC Western Regional Women’s Organiser.

Two aspirants are going unopposed: Joana Barikisu Alhassan for Women’s Organiser and Francis Alluh for Communication Officer. Alluh will go unopposed after his contender, Shaibu Mohammed (Shakes), stepped down to support him.

The chairmanship race has five aspirants: incumbent Chairman Alex Mahamah, incumbent Treasurer Shaibu Abdulai Dauda, incumbent Organiser Justice Kofi Ackerson, Enoch Blay Hemans and Festus Armoh Asijo.

Speaking to Daniel Kaku after the vetting, incumbent Chairman Alex Kwame Mahamah, who picked number three on the ballot, said the number three represented his bid for a third term as chairman. Mahamah became chairman in 2018.

Also speaking after the balloting, aspirant Shaibu Abdulai Dauda, the incumbent Treasurer, who picked number four on the ballot, said the number four position represented victory.

Party faithful who thronged the venue described the exercise as peaceful and successful.

The main constituency executive elections are scheduled to take place on October 24 and 25, 2026, according to the NDC’s timetable.
