Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II, the newly outdoored Chief of Kyebi Pano, has appealed to residents to remain united and support an inclusive leadership approach to accelerate the socio-economic development of the community.

He made the appeal on Monday, September 28, 2026, at a durbar held at the Kyebi Pano Presbyterian Basic School Park to mark his official outdooring and thanksgiving ceremony.

The chief expressed gratitude to Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the Okyenhene, the Okyeman Traditional Council and all others who contributed to his installation.

According to him, the development of Kyebi Pano cannot be achieved by one person but requires the collective efforts of residents and other stakeholders. He therefore urged the people to work together to promote the progress of the community.

On education, Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II commended teachers for their contribution to the development of education and pledged to support efforts to improve its standard in the community.

He also urged parents to take responsibility for their children, particularly those below 18 years. He warned that parents could face punitive measures if their children were found loitering in the community after 8 p.m.

The chief further called on shop owners to obtain dustbins from the Municipal Assembly to help control littering and improve sanitation and public health.

As part of his plans to improve the appearance of Kyebi Pano, he announced that he would personally support the painting of buildings within the community’s central business area.

During the ceremony, he handed over a brand-new Toyota Hiace GL van to the traditional council, represented by the Abusuapanin, Danso Abeam, to improve the council’s mobility and support its traditional activities.

Okogyeaman Apagya Ofori, Chief of Akyem Apapam (Amantomiensa), expressed appreciation to Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin for approving the installation of the new Kyebi Pano Chief.

He praised Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II for his dedication, hard work, humility and service to Amantomiensa during his eight years as regent.

He said his elevation to the substantive chieftaincy of Kyebi Pano was a reflection of the service he rendered to the area.

Okogyeaman Apagya Ofori urged the new chief not to become complacent because of his new position but to remain focused and vigilant. He also encouraged him to respect the elders of the community to maintain unity and promote development.

The Kyebi Chief, Osabarima Marfo Kwabrane, congratulated Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II and commended him for his eight years of service as regent.

He said the chief’s work during that period demonstrated that he was deserving of the position.

Osabarima Marfo Kwabrane further advised him to stay away from land disputes, bribery and other activities that could affect his reputation and the peace of the community.

He disclosed that his office had received a proposal from the United States for the establishment of a STEM school covering education from the basic level to the university.

He therefore appealed to Barimah Ofori Akari Opare Ahuntahunu II to make land available in Kyebi Pano to facilitate the establishment of the project.

He wished the new chief success as he begins his tenure and takes on his traditional responsibilities.

The colourful ceremony was attended by Kingsley Agyemang, MP for Abuakwa South, together with his NPP Constituency Executives, traditional leaders, members of the clergy, heads of institutions, security officials, media practitioners and members of the public.
