The declaration was made at Wadie Adwumakase
The Youth Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Kwabre East Constituency, Nana Appiah, has called on young people across the constituency to join forces with him, declaring that the “propaganda and deceit” of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be decisively defeated in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to journalists, Nana Appiah, popularly known as the Youth Commander, said the youth had seen through what he described as the unfulfilled promises of the NDC administration and were determined to support the return of the NPP to power to restore economic stability and promote youth empowerment.
The declaration was made at Wadie Adwumakase during an event organised to commemorate Nana Appiah’s birthday and thanksgiving service.
As part of the celebration, the youth organiser also organised a free health screening exercise and a soccer tournament for community members and youth groups across the constituency.
Outlining his contributions since assuming office, Nana Appiah said his priority had been to secure sustainable livelihoods for young people. He said he had facilitated employment for 12 local youths, seven of whom were employed by large-scale mining firms, while five secured jobs in other corporate entities.
Nana Appiah also announced plans to roll out clean water projects across communities and educational institutions in the constituency.
“Our flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has made it clear that youth development is his top priority, and I am fully aligning with that vision. From our Ashanti Regional leadership under Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (Chairman COKA), down to Kwabre East led by Chairman Frederick Agyeman and our MP, Onyina-Acheampong Akwasi Gyamfi, we are putting our house in order.
“We are not organising like a struggling Manchester United team, but like a cohesive, formidable Barcelona team that is solid, disciplined and always winning,” he said.
He said the planned projects would include mechanised boreholes in schools and vulnerable communities across Kwabre East, emphasising that access to clean water was a fundamental necessity.
Nana Appiah also pledged to foster an inclusive platform that would embrace all young people, including those affiliated with the NDC, as part of efforts to address youth unemployment if the NPP returns to power in 2028.
The celebration was attended by constituency executives and party stalwarts, led by Kwabre East NPP Chairman Frederick Agyeman and the MP, Onyina-Acheampong Akwasi Gyamfi.
Addressing the gathering at the Wadie Adwumakase grounds, Chairman Agyeman appealed to party members to put past grievances arising from internal constituency and parliamentary primaries behind them, stressing the need for reconciliation.
“From the electric atmosphere and unity I see here today, once we belong to the red, white and blue family of the Elephant, we must let go of past disputes. I humbly ask everyone to forgive and forget the misunderstandings from past internal elections. Let us hold hands as one family to rebuild our grassroots,” Chairman Agyeman said.
Criticising the NDC administration, Chairman Agyeman accused the government of deceiving the Ghanaian public over promises of automatic postings for newly trained nurses and teachers. He also accused the government of failing cocoa farmers through what he described as unfavourable farmgate prices.
He further expressed concern about what he described as a shrinking democratic space in the country, alleging that citizens and critics now live in fear of arrest for speaking their minds.
According to him, this contrasted with the level of tolerance he said existed during the tenure of former President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“Today, people are afraid to talk; the moment you voice your opinion, you face arrest. Under the NPP, democracy flourished and people were even paid to criticise Akufo-Addo without intimidation.
“Unity is our power. Kwabre East and the Ashanti Region must wake up. The Elephant will surely rise again in 2028,” he said.
The medical outreach provided free health screenings, diagnostic checks and basic medication to residents as part of the activities marking Nana Appiah’s birthday and thanksgiving service.
