New ultra-modern police station commissioned at Adoagyiri to boost security

A new ultra-modern police station has been commissioned at Adoagyiri in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region to strengthen security, combat crime and improve police operations in the area.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Philibert Selorm Fummey, together with the Eastern South Police Commander, DCOP Charles Kofi Adu, officially commissioned the facility.

The police station, which falls under the Eastern South Police Command, is expected to enhance police presence, improve emergency response and help curb criminal activities within the municipality.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by several senior police officers, including Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), as well as assembly members and other dignitaries.

Speaking at the ceremony, DCOP Charles Kofi Adu emphasised the importance of community participation in maintaining law and order. He urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities in their communities, assuring them that the police would treat information received confidentially and take the necessary action.

“The police cannot work alone unless we get help from the community,” DCOP Adu stated, calling on residents to collaborate with the police to help rid the area of criminal activities.

For his part, MCE Philibert Selorm Fummey pledged the Assembly's continued support to ensure the effective operation of the facility. He assured the police of the Assembly's commitment to providing the necessary logistics and resources to support their work.

Providing background to the project, Selorm Fummey explained that construction of the police station began in 2022 under the previous administration but stalled before completion.



He said the project was subsequently revived and completed under the national initiative spearheaded by President John Dramani Mahama to complete abandoned public infrastructure projects across the country.

The newly completed facility has been equipped with modern amenities and equipment to support effective police operations.

The commissioning of the police station has been welcomed by residents and business owners, who expressed optimism that the facility would strengthen security, deter criminal activities and create a safer environment for residents and businesses in Adoagyiri.
