Alhaji Mustapha, also serves as Principal Corporate Affairs Officer at the MDF
The Western Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Iddrisu Mustapha, has declared his intention to contest the position of Western Regional Vice Chairman in the party’s upcoming regional elections.
Alhaji Mustapha, who also serves as Principal Corporate Affairs Officer at the Minerals Development Fund (MDF), said he would draw on his experience in party organisation, education and public service to strengthen the regional executive.
Speaking to journalists, he said the NDC needed leaders who could combine grassroots mobilisation with professional competence to consolidate the party’s gains in the region.
“I have served the party at the youth level and worked in education, energy policy and corporate affairs. I believe this experience will help build a stronger and more united regional administration,” he said.
Alhaji Mustapha holds a Bachelor of Education in Social Sciences from the University of Cape Coast and a Master of Science in Energy Management from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, United Kingdom.
Before his appointment at the MDF in May 2026, he worked as an Energy Policy Analyst at the Energy Policy and Research Institute from 2015 to 2022. He previously served as Deputy Regional Manager of Schools at the Islamic Education Unit of the Ghana Education Service.
Some delegates who spoke to the media described him as an experienced organiser whose background in youth mobilisation could help bridge the gap between the regional leadership and the grassroots.
The NDC is expected to hold its regional elections next month, during which delegates will elect new executives to steer the party’s affairs in the Western Region for the next four years.
