Sebastian Dzakpasu submits forms to Volta NDC Elections Director Dr Francis Seglah
Comrade Sebastian Dzakpasu has pledged to promote financial discipline and intensify efforts to encourage party members to pay their dues promptly to strengthen the party’s financial base as he vies for the position of the Deputy Regional Treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region,
He said improving dues payment among members would be a key priority if elected, noting that his engagements with constituencies during the nomination process revealed that many members have not paid their dues for several years.
Dzakpasu made the commitment after filing his nomination at the party’s regional secretariat in Ho on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, to contest the position in the forthcoming regional elections.
He explained that timely payment of dues is essential to financing party activities and sustaining its structures at the branch, constituency and regional levels.
“As we visited the 18 constituencies as part of the filing process, you realise that a lot of people have not paid their dues for so many years,” he said.
He said he would embark on an education campaign to help members understand the importance of paying their dues and the role their contributions could play in supporting the party’s work.
Dzakpasu said his decision to contest the position was driven by his longstanding commitment to party service and his desire to contribute to the NDC’s organisational and financial development at the regional level.
The businessman, who has served for almost 20 years in various capacities, including as a branch secretary from 2005 and as a branch treasurer, currently serves as the Deputy Constituency Treasurer in South Tongu since 2018 for 2 terms.
He described his bid for the regional position as an opportunity to extend his service to the party and contribute to its administration beyond the constituency level.
“Serving people is what we stand for all these years. I think it is just an elevation to come and continue serving at the regional level. The welfare of our people is what we stand for,” he said.
He said his experience in finance and business would help him contribute to effective resource mobilisation and the management of the party’s affairs.
He indicated that he would draw on his professional networks and partnerships across the country to attract support for the party and its activities.
Dzakpasu also pledged to work with the Regional Treasurer and other executives to strengthen financial administration and ensure that available resources were used responsibly to advance the party’s programmes.
On the NDC’s political prospects, he expressed confidence in the party’s performance in government, citing ongoing development projects across the country as evidence of its efforts.
He said the party could achieve more if given another mandate in the 2028 general elections and urged members to work together towards retaining power.
He added that his experience serving on the regional committee’s finance committee has given him further insight into the financial and organisational demands of party administration.
As delegates prepare to vote on October 24 and 25, 2026, Dzakpasu appealed for their support, promising to work closely with them if elected.
“I'm ready to work with you. As you have endorsed my forms, I'm counting on your help so that I get to this position and work with you together as comrades,” he said.
His campaign is centred on responsible financial management, improved dues collection, accountability and resource mobilisation to strengthen the NDC’s structures across the Volta Region and position the party for victory in 2028.
