NCCE Adentan engages residents on the rule of law and corruption.
The Adentan Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has held a community feedback meeting to assess the impact of an earlier civic education training programme on the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
The meeting brought together participants from the initial training session to share their experiences and reflect on how the knowledge acquired had influenced their understanding of the rule of law, women's rights, accountability and corruption prevention.
The initial training, held on 6 November 2025, targeted women from various groups, including market women, dressmakers and fashion designers, self-employed women and representatives of faith-based organisations.
The programme was implemented by the NCCE in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and co-funded by the European Union (EU).
It sought to equip participants with practical knowledge of the rule of law, women's rights, domestic violence, corruption, transparency and accountability. Participants were also introduced to relevant legal frameworks, including the Whistleblower Act, and appropriate channels for reporting corruption and other wrongdoing.
Resource persons from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) facilitated discussions during the initial training, providing information on participants' rights, legal protections and civic responsibilities.
The feedback meeting provided an opportunity for the NCCE to assess the continued relevance of the training and encourage participants to apply the knowledge gained in their daily lives and community activities.
Discussions also highlighted the importance of respecting the law, protecting the rights of others, promoting integrity and speaking out against corruption as part of efforts to strengthen accountability and good governance.
The engagement forms part of the NCCE's broader mandate to promote civic awareness, responsible citizenship, democratic governance and public participation in national development.
Through follow-up engagements, the Commission seeks to reinforce lessons from previous educational interventions, encourage sustained community participation and promote behavioural change.
The NCCE has encouraged community members to remain active in civic affairs, respect the laws of Ghana, protect the rights of others and contribute to efforts to build a transparent and accountable society.
