Security operatives nab voters over illicit ballot photography at Bimbilla NDC polls

Tensions flared at the Bimbilla voting centre after law enforcement officers apprehended several delegates caught snapshotting their marked ballots during the ongoing National Democratic Congress constituency elections.

The immediate crackdown by security personnel sparked widespread unrest among voters, briefly throwing the exercise into confusion as officers acted swiftly to uphold secret ballot rules.

The disturbance unfolded amidst an intense internal race where 1,764 accredited delegates are casting their votes to decide the fate of 60 candidates competing across 17 constituency executive positions.

The local voting exercise forms a key component of the main opposition party’s nationwide constituency elections, taking place across 276 constituencies over the weekend of 24 and 25 October 2026.
