Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has extended financial and skills development support to 145 traders, apprentices and artisans across the constituency as part of efforts to promote entrepreneurship, vocational training and economic empowerment.
The intervention, undertaken this week, targeted individuals at different stages of their economic and professional development, providing them with resources to establish, sustain and expand their livelihoods.
A total of 50 petty traders received financial assistance to support their businesses and strengthen their income-generating activities.
Additionally, 60 young people received support to undertake apprenticeship training, giving them the opportunity to acquire practical vocational skills that can improve their prospects for employment and self-employment.
Another 35 newly graduated apprentices benefited from the initiative through the provision of tools and equipment to help them begin their professional journeys and put their newly acquired skills into practice.
The support reflects a focus on addressing some of the practical challenges faced by small-scale traders, young people seeking vocational training and artisans transitioning from apprenticeship into independent work.
For petty traders, access to financial assistance can provide an opportunity to strengthen business operations. For aspiring apprentices, support towards training can help remove financial barriers to acquiring employable skills. Meanwhile, the provision of tools and equipment gives newly trained artisans resources to start practising their trades.
