Wa, April 4, GNA - Members of the Yijiisi Royal Gate of the Wa paramountcy has marked the 50th anniversary of the death of Wa Naa Seidu II with prayers and recitation of the Holy Koran. The late Wa Naa Seidu, who occupied the Wa skin from 1953 to 1961, was born in 1913 and lived for 48 years until his death on the 13th of March, 1961 which was the 27th day of the month of Ramadan. Naa Seidu II, apart from serving as the chief of the Wala people also worked as a clerk at Kaleo, Daffiama and the Wa Town Council from 1931 to 1950.
Before ascending the throne, Naa Seidu was Chief of Katua and also a Member of the Legislative Assembly from 1951 to 1961. In a tribute, Alhaji Imoru Seidu, eldest son of the late Paramount Chief, described him as a great peace loving person, a unifier and a man who had great respect for his fellow human beings. Alhaji Imoru, who was a PNDC Regional Deputy Secretary for Agriculture, said his father was an epitome of love and a strong advocate for unity of the nuclear family as well as the entire Wala Traditional Area.
Alhaji Imoru said the greatest legacy his late father left behind was an expanded Wala State. Another legacy, he said, was his advice to the Walas to always remember their roots and foster unity amongst themselves. 4 April 11
