Bolgatanga, April 28, GNA - The Presbyterian Church has appealed to policy makers to ensure that policy on education, especially the duration of Senior High School, was stabilized. The Upper East Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana made the appealed on Tuesday in a communiqu=E9 issued at Bolgatanga and read by the Rev Esmond Nagba, Chairman of the Presbytery.
"The Presbytery wishes to appeal to policy makers to ensure that the policy fluctuation on education especially with regards to the length of Senior High School be stabilized as the continuation of this fluctuation may not be good for the future of our young ones." The communiqu=E9 said poor performance by Senior High Students in the three northern regions made it difficult for them to gain admission into tertiary institutions.
"The Upper Presbytery calls for collective reawakening so that we together identify the causative factors and address them with utmost sense of urgency."
The Communiqu=E9 appealed to chiefs, media and political functionaries among others to continue to be mindful of their gatekeeping roles to peace and harmony. On the 2012 election, the communiqu=E9 appealed to all aspirants and actors to engage in the contest with every sense of decency so as to avoid clashes.
It commended all key actors that have played significant roles in maintaining and consolidating the peace in the country and called on Mamprusis of Bawku to return to the negotiating table for peace to prevail in the area.
Rev Nagba said the Church and State had crucial roles to play in national development and that it was against this background that the Presbyterian Church of Ghana would continue to complement government efforts at tackling issues of national concern. 28 April 11
