Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mrs Mina Ayim, Director-General of Police Welfare, has urged the public to help weed out bad officers in the Service by exposing those who compromised their positions and indulged in corrupt practices.

She said the police could not perform better without public cooperation and has thus instituted rewards for people who would support the police by volunteering information to curtail crimes and expose corrupt officers.

DCOP Mrs Ayim made the call at a passing out parade of 132 recruits in Koforidua on Thursday.

She said the police administration would not countenance acts of indiscipline and lawlessness, especially as the nation prepares to go to the polls in December.

DCOP Mrs Ayim warned that, if miscreants had by chance found their way into the service then they should advise themselves because the Police Administration in a bid to enhance its image will not spare any personnel whose acts could bring the name of the service into disrepute.

DCOP Ayim, who was the reviewing officer, advised the recruits to upgrade their knowledge and skills to be able to be relevant in the service by global and international standards.

She cited organized crimes such as internet fraud, drug trafficking and cross border crimes as the major challenges that they would be expected to handle with tact and professionalism.

General recruit Abdul-Salam Shaibu, received the overall best recruit award, whiles General recruits Sampson Kwarteng, Yusuf Alhassan and Godsway Wemegah received the best conductor, drill and marksman respectively.**
