NUGS is Committed to Quality Education For the Ghanaian Youth

Mon, 22 Oct 2012 Source: --

The National Executive Officers (NEO) of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) led by Acting NUGS

President Mr. Tafhim Ali Gbonta would want to congratulate all candidates who made up to the list of

competing Presidential candidates for the December 7 polls.

The Union also wants to congratulate His Excellency President John Mahama for appearing on the IEA

Encounter with Presidential Candidates which we believe is good for our democracy. For a sitting

Government to avail itself for public scrutiny is new in our burgeoning democracy and we congratulate all

Ghanaians for this historic moment.

We want to reiterate our stand that NUGS is committed to quality education and this stand does not mean

that we are apostate to free education. The Union is a strong advocate for free education but with the current

dilapidated structures that students have to make do with in our institutions, clearly we are convinced that

we want our Presidential Aspirants to give us a clean educational bill articulating how they will improve our

infrastructures culminating into a free SHS in the future.

We are confident that our current Aspirants will rise up to the challenge. If you are an aspirant and reading

this piece now, NUGS wants to tell you that when you tell us - Ghanaian students - how you will improve our

current “dictatorship-structured-educational-system” for the better, we will give you the vote come

December 7 and this is a surety.

Thank you.

Signed:

Austin Brako-Powers
