The Ga South Municipal Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (CoHBS), has held its last conference for the year at Weija, under the theme: “Promoting the Headteacher’s Professional Development and Health for Quality Education Delivery.”

The meeting brought together about 150 headteachers from the public schools, circuit supervisors and senior education officers from within the Municipality.

In his opening remarks, Mr. John Gyasten, Chairman of the Association, expressed delight about members' hard work and commitment to duty.

He implored his colleagues to use the limited resources at their disposal to turn the dwindling educational standards around.

Mr Anthony Kwaku Amoah, Public Relations Officer for Ghana School Project (an NGO), and the main speaker, lauded teachers and headteachers for their immense contributions to the promotion of quality education delivery in the country.

Mr. Amoah reminded the headteachers to see themselves as captains, coaches, mentors, supervisors and managers of their schools, and strive to give of their best.

He appealed to the government to support headteachers to update their knowledge and competencies on new trends in areas like management, accounting, statistics, guidance and counseling and ICT so that they can remain powerful and relevant to the changing demands of society.

The event was marked by a free health screening for participants on malaria, diabetes, hypertension and general body fitness.
