Management of MTN Ghana has donated four sets of phones to the Ghana National Fire Service to facilitate easy access to the National Emergency Number 192.

Mrs Eleanor Sarpong, Senior Manager for Regulatory Affairs said the company recognized the efforts of the fire service in emergencies especially with the numerous fire outbreaks hence decided to assist to improve on its communication needs.

This was in a statement signed by Mr Ellis Robinson Okoe, Acting Head of Public Relations at the GNFS and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

Dr Albert Brown Gaisie, the Chief Fire Officer of GNFS, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the gesture and called on other communication networks to support the service since in other jurisdictions, communication agencies assist the emergency services to ensure easy emergency responses.

He appealed to MTN Ghana for more support since the service has 13 regions, adding that, the communication industry must find it appropriate to assist the service, in that, their activities evolve around power and electronics which are all fire prone.

Dr Gaisie called for assistance from all service providers in the communication industry to support the fire safety week celebration which takes off in March.

Other MTN Ghana officials present at the ceremony included Mr Ebenezer Ofori, Chief Security and Safety Officer, Mr Abdul-Fatawu Alhassan, Regulatory Compliance Advisor and Mr Suraka Mohammed, a Technician.
