Northern Easter School opens at Wa

This year's Northern Easter School opened at Wa on Saturday with a call on professionals and entrepreneurs from Northern Ghana living within and outside the country to take advantage of the government's "Golden Age of Business" to attract investments to the North.

Right Reverent Philip Naameh, Catholic Bishop of Damongo, who made thecall, asked them to form partnerships with local and foreign investors to tap the rich economic potentials in the area to create jobs for the youth.

Bishop Naameh was delivering a keynote address at the opening of theschool at Wa, on the theme" "Peace, Stability and Development in Northern Ghana."

The School is a major forum in the annual calendar, which brings peopleof diverse backgrounds together to discuss and share ideas on issues affecting development of the Northern, Upper East and West regions and make proposals to government."

Among topics being discussed included strategies for peace building and conflict resolution," "promoting a culture of discipline in Ghana," "strategies for ensuring food security in Northern Ghana" and "mobilizing the youth for national development."

He called for a conscious effort to eliminate illiteracy in thenorthern regions in general and in the Dagomba and Gonja areas inparticular.
