The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has awarded contracts for the construction of drains and culverts on selected roads in the Adukrom Electoral Area at the cost of 200 million cedis.

Alhaji Lukumanu Mohammed, Assemblyman for Adukrom, who announced this, said the contractors were Satemko Limited, Doska and Abeka Construction firms.

He said two communities in the area - Akorem-Chibew and Akotosu were to benefit from the constructional works.

Alhaji Mohammed made the announcement at a forum with opinion leaders of Sawaba in Kumasi on Monday to introduce unit committee members of the community to the people.

The forum, which was attended by Imams, elders and youth of Sawaba also served as a platform for the Assemblyman to thank the electorate for electing him to the KMA and also brief them on projects earmarked for the area.

He told the forum that Satemko, one of the contractors, had already commenced the construction of drains at Akorem-Chibew and that the other two contractors would also start at Akotosu soon.

The Assemblyman said that an agreement had been reached with opinion leaders and the electorate for the mobilisation of funds to complete a market project, which started 10 years at Sawaba, but had been abandoned.

Nana Kwaku Addai, Odikro of Sawaba, advised the youth to always follow laid down procedure for addressing any misunderstanding.

Secretary of the Sawaba Unit Committee, Mr Stephen Tambe Gyan called on the Committee members to attend meetings regularly.
