The Saint John’s the Divine Anglican Church Winneba, has presented items worth GHC2,000 to the authorities of the Winneba Prisons to help them to cater for the inmates.

The items include bags of rice, sugar, fruits, soft drinks, sets of carpentry and masonry tools and bags of sachets water.

Making the presentation, Mr Ambrose Entiswah Jnr, Peoples Warden of the Church said the donation forms part of the church social responsibility to let those in custody under their care to feel part of the society.

He expressed the need for NGO’s and other philanthropy organisations to also reach out to the prisons to supplement what government offers in the upkeep of inmates.

Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Francis Boosomtwe expressed gratitude to the Church for taking the plight of the inmates into their hearts.

Rev Father Alexander Appiah, Acting Priest in charge of the Church led the members to interact with the inmates and asked them to have faith in the Lord that all is not lost.

Deacon James Andoh-Appiah led the inmates to the Alter call and more than 20 of them accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord.
