Obrachire (C/R), Aug 9, GNA - Ghanaians should show sympathy, love and compassion for HIV/AIDS victims to prolong their lives. This was the consensus of speakers at an HIV/AIDS sensitisation programme at Awutu-Obrachire in the Central Region on Friday. Dr Johnson Agbezukey, Medical officer in charge of the Awutu-Bawjiase Health Centre, Mr Christopher Mensah Chrismak of the National AIDS Commission and Rev Elias M. Ahumbly, Chairman of Obrachire HIV/AIDS campaign group, were speaking when they took turns at the launch of the programme.

They explained the causes, prevention and issues involved in contracting and the spread of HIV/AIDS and counselled the people on how to curb the spread of the disease.

The speakers advised them to heed the advice of HIV/AIDS campaigners and asked them to stick to their partners. Dr Agbezukey urged the public to shun quack doctors and to report their health problems to qualified health personnel.
