New Begoro District Hospital handed over to Ministry

Begoro (E/R), Aug. 14 GNA- The new Begoro District Hospital valued at Euro 18 million (approximately 180 Billion cedis), was handed over to the Ministry of Health by the contractor, Mr Oliver Storzer, Project Manager of VAMED Engineering of Austria at Begoro on Thursday. The project, funded by a grant from the Austrian Government, consists of administrative block, laboratories, emergency examination hall, X'ray, operation theatre, paediatric, kitchen, laundry, mortuary, doctors and nurses quarters.

The project began in May 2002 and it took 15 months to complete. The keys to the hospital was received by Mrs Evelyn Asiedu-Ofei, Eastern Regional Health Service Administrator, who handed them over to the District Director of Health Service for Fanteakwa, Miss lsabella Rdule.

She thanked the contractor for the good work done and promised that the facilities at the hospital would be maintained.

The Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, was happy that the project, which started during his time as the District Chief Executive, was continued and completed by the present government.

He commended the Contractor and the Consultants, Berogohene and Benkumhene of the Akim Abuakwa Traditional Area, Osabarima Awua Kotoko, for their support to have the hospital completed on time.
