Nsawam water shortage being addressed

Dredging works have started at the Nsawam end of the Densu River to address the acute water shortage that has hit the town following the drying up of the Ghana Water Company’s treatment plant reservoir.

The dredging is one of three interventions already underway to deal with the shortage, which has forced people to drink from ponds and other polluted sources.

Public Relations Manager of the Ghana Water Company Stanley Martey, speaking to Class News, said residents should expect some relief as they begin tanker services as a short-term measure.

“Dredging has begun and we are doing geophysical studies so that we can explore the avenues for drilling boreholes for the people,” he said, adding that “the immediate action being taken is to supply water via tankers to the people, which is ongoing”.
