Mr Divine Kafui Domor, the Secretary of the Koforidua –Ho-Aflao branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union of TUC (GPRTU), has said members of the Union need training in handling breathalyzers.

He said the instrument could be used at lorry parks for the park authorities to help detect drivers who drink before driving adding that this would help minimize accidents on the roads.

In a broad ranging interview with the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua, Mr Domor suggested that the Road Safety Commission (RSC) be made to train members of the GPRTU on the use of breathalyzers (an instrument for testing alcoholism in ones system).

He called on the district assemblies to involve the driver unions in their fee fixing meetings to enable the unions to make their contribution on the rates to be paid to the assembly annually.

Mr Domor also called on the Assembly to construct sheds at the new Koforidua-Ho-Aflao lorry park and

appealed to government to reduce the insurance premium paid by vehicles owners.
