Nana Yaw Wiredu, the Assembly member for Ahinsan Estate Electoral area within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA),has described the allegation of the Chief of Ahinsan, for pocketing Fifteen thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc 15,000.00) meant for the construction of a toilet facility in the area not only bogus but baseless.

He has therefore urged the general public to treat the allegations of the Chief with the necessary contempt it deserves.

"How can I construct two mechanized boreholes with overhead tanks and a twenty seater toilet facility for the residents of Ahinsan Estate with Twenty Five thousand Ghana CEDI's(Ghc 25,000)?

Even with the total amount, the Chief released for a project for the community as benefit from the compensation paid by the Government for the lands in the area, I was asked by the to buy a brand new Ace laptop computer at the cost of One thousand Two hundred Ghana (Ghc 1,200) to his nephew who was studying at KNUST.

Reacting to the threat by Ahinsanhene to banished him within two weeks time from the area for allegedly pocketing toilet money and refusal to account for it, the veteran Assembly member who is also a Chief at Nyamekrom in the New Juaben of the Eastern region with a stool name,Nana Kwame Nnuro Agyapong Il,said as a Chief himself he wouldn't kowtow to the insult of Ahinsanhene.

Explaining that, the Ahinsan estate electoral area stretched to Bomso community and he has more than 90% of the electorates he is representing supporting him because of his good work and transparency.

According to him, the bare fact about the whole matter is that, during his second term in office as an Assembly member, the Government decided to pay a compensation for Bomso/Ahinsan stool lands ,it used to construct the Estate houses.

Nana Yaw Wiredu said along the line, he went to the United State(US) and called his colleague Assembly member, hon.James Okyere to appeal to the Chief to support the Community with part of the compensation for a monument over the lands.

That upon his returned, they to the Chief and he asked what they wanted to use the money for and " I told him that, the community is need of a mechanized borehole and street light and Hon.James Okyere also indicated to use his shared for streetlight for the community should he decide to offer something. And that the Chief said he couldn't give them more than Fifty Thousand Ghana cedis(Ghc 50,000) for that purpose. Ahinsan Assembly member said he also approached the Queen mother of Bomso to explain to her, if she could also help to construct another mechanized borehole from the Government's compensation for the lands and she donated Ghc 10,000 to support the project.

"So out of the Ghc 35,000.00 at my disposal from both Ahinsanhene and Bomsohemaa,we constructed two mechanized boreholes with overhead tanks at a little over Ghc 32,000 for the electoral area as well as Ghc 1,200 used for a brand new laptop and streetlight fixing. The Contractor for the project is still alive for any details", he challenged.

Nana Yaw Wiredu said for two consecutive times ,he together with the unit committee had called a meeting to rendered account to the community inline with the ACT 462 and up to date the Resident Association at Ahinsan Estate which operate the mechanized boreholes has refused to show up in meetings to rendered account but rather they are expecting him and his Unit committee to rather attend their meeting and account to them which is illegal.

He recalled that during his campaign for a third term in office he promised that, when given the nod,he would lobby the necessary agencies to enable the people in the area who have put up buildings or houses without permits to secure building permits because most of them didn't have some as revealed during the assessment by Lands Commission before the compensation from the government for the estate lands development could be paid to them. That after elections, he wrote an official letter to Lands Commission and Town and Country Planning to meet the entire community for a meeting to address the issues.

The Assembly man disclosed that, at the meeting ,Gyasihene of Ahinsan came to represent the Ahinsanhene , there was two representatives from Bomsohemaa who has lands in the area. That unfortunately, after the meeting the Chief of Ahinsanhene called him on phone accused him and insulted him for inviting Lands Commission and town and Country Planning to do re-zoning of lands which he has no power of.

"As respectable Assembly member , I don't do re-zoning because it is not my duty that is why I wrote official letter to the necessary agencies and called a meeting for the community to meet to help address those outstanding issues before the necessary compensations to be paid. Adding that, as we speak now natural reserve places in the area have been sold by the stool lands and all these things need to be address",he said.Nana Yaw Wiredu , has dared the Chief to carry on his threat ,arguing that, his claims are baseless and lack merit and that he will forever remain the Assembly member of the area till his four year mandate.
