Asuansi (C/R), Aug.12 GNA-Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has charged the youth not allow themselves to be used by politician to foment problems in this year's election.
He said elections are not a do or die affair but a contest of ideas to galvanize the people for development.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur was speaking at the National Cadet Leadership Training Camp 2016 at Asuansi Secondary Technical Institute in the Central Region.
This year's Cadet Leadership Camp which is on theme: "Peace and stability the role of the youth in peace building" was attended by 10 officers and 105 Cadet Corps from Cadet groups across the country.
The Cadet Corps in Ghana was established in 1954 at Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) Takoradi.
The aim of establishing the Cadet Corps in schools is to instill discipline and loyalty among students. Currently the corps is the largest youth organization with membership of 654schools and a numerical strength of about 56,380 in all the ten regions of the country.
The National Cadet Corps is an amalgamation of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Police, Fire and CEPS Cadet Corps in the country.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur stated that peace and stability are important for the development of the nation and that no country can progress socially, economically if there is no harmony and stability.
He said the training of the youth is very important because they are the foundation of the country for the future.
He stated that establishment of Cadet Corps in schools has help to promote discipline among the youth and has help in their academic performances.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur also commended the performance of students in the 2016 WASSCE in the exams saying their results were better than that of 2015.
Dr Kor Jacobs, Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has debunked claims from sections of the public that the 2016 WASSCE results were poor.
He urged Ghanaians not to politicize the current WASSCE results but rather give good suggestions to address any future problems.
He said the criterion for assessing students in WASSCE exams over the years have not changed and as such was wondering how come people were claiming the results was poor.
