NDC appeals to constituency members

Accra, Dec. 11, GNA - The Executive members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of the Krowor Constituency has appealed to former executive members, who as a result of the recent parliamentary primaries, resigned from the party to rescind their decision in order to win back power in 2004 elections.

It said the NDC needed to be rejuvenated with new faces as a sign of new hope and vision since a new wind of internal democracy is blowing within the party to bring it back to power.

In a letter signed by the current constituency executive members in reaction to a purported en-bloc resignation of former Krowor constituency executive, they said members should learn lessons and be guided by the 2000 elections where the process of internal democracy was thrown overboard which led to the defeat of party.

The Executive said: "Nothing was done before, during and after the recent primaries in the constituency that warrants resignation en-bloc," adding that the ordinary members voted for their preferred candidates and it must be adhered to and accept the will of the people.

It therefore, urged the members to give the new executive the needed support to bring back the party to power instead of the current attitude of "if we did not get it, it must go to the dogs."

It also called on those supporters who think they have genuine grievances to channel it through the appropriate quarters and to avoid the threat of splitting the party.
