The damaged poultry house
A pricey poultry farm located at New Techiman in the Techiman Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region has been burnt by some irate youth, who have accused the owner of the farm, Nana Osei of murdering one Iddrisu Seidu alias, Kofi Abbey and setting his body ablaze for ritual purposes.
The residence of Nana Osei and that of his workers, as well as vehicles were burnt by the irate youth.
Narrating events that led to the carnage, the Assemblyman of New Techiman, Iddirisu Huhu told DAILY GUIDE that some children from the Zongo area, who used to collect dead fowls, informed members of the community that they saw a body in an abandoned well.
He said when the children reported the matter to their parents, the news spread rapidly in the town so the youth rushed there but did not find the body.
According to the Assemblyman, when the farmer inquired from the visibly angry youth what they wanted on the farm, they told him that they had received report that somebody had been murdered and dumped in the abandoned well on the farm.
Mr Huhu said the owner became angry and drove his car to Tanoso Police Station to lodge a complaint.
“I was teaching in school when I received a call that one Iddrisu Seidu, 36, who is an errand boy of the poultry farmer, did not return home after visiting the poultry farm and so they suspected that he had been murdered, he told DAILY GUIDE.
Mr Huhu said he rushed to report the matter to the Tanoso police, adding that the youth and police found a corpse wrapped in a white polythene bag about one kilometer from the farm after a thorough search.
He said the youth of the town became incensed and rushed to the farm to burn the facility.
The fire gutted everything before personnel of the Techiman Fire Service got there.
DAILY GUIDE learnt that the people of New Techiman suspected the farmer, who hails from Badu in the Tain District of Brong Ahafo Region, of using juju so the case offered the youth the opportunity to vandalize the facility.
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of the poultry farmer cannot be traced, but the body of Iddrisu Seidu has been conveyed to the Techiman Holy Family mortuary while the police continue investigations into the matter.
