The Wa East NPP executive declared Mr Tangu at Bulengna in the Wa District where they also welcomed 30 members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who had defected to the NPP.

Also among the defectors who presented themselves at the ceremony was Madam Olivia T. Tangu, Convention Peoples Party (CPP) parliamentary candidate in the 2000 election, who attributed her defection to the good development policies adopted by the NPP government.

Mr Angaamwini Salifu Sitta, constituency secretary of NPP thanked the defectors for taking a bold step to join the NPP to attract more development projects into the area.

He appealed to the people to rally round Mr Tangu to enable him to win the seat.
