Wenchi, Dec 17, GNA - The establishment of police cadet corps in educational institutions is one of the community relations strategies aimed at improving relations between the police and the general public in a bid to forge a partnership in the fight against crime.

Mr Douglas Akrofi Asiedu, the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Commander, said this when inaugurating the police cadet corps of Our Lady of Fatima Vocational and Business Institute at Wenchi. He therefore asked the student-cadets to see themselves as ambassadors of the police and assist in educating the public on the functions of the Police Service.

''You can do this through your daily interactions with the people and at community forums.''

The Most Reverend Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, congratulated the cadet students and and said academic attainment without moral training "is useless and dangerous." Mrs. Juliana Sakyi, Principal of the school, appealed to the church, the District Assembly and non-governmental organizations to help provide classrooms and furniture for the Institute.
