Hohoe, Dec 29, GNA - The Hohoe District Assembly this year provided 1.3 billion cedis worth of HIPC projects.
The European Union (EU) also funded 850 million cedis worth of projects in district within the same period.
Mr James Dogbe, the District Chief Executive, said this at the third General Meeting of the Assembly on Monday.
He said the HIPC funded projects are made up of health facilities, potable water, school blocks, nurses and teachers' quarters, and KVIP toilets.
Mr Dogbe said 12 other communities benefited from EU projects in the areas of health, sanitation and education.
He expressed regret that revenue mobilisation in the district fell short of its estimated target of 1.3 billion cedis. It collected 821 million cedis as at September.
Mr Dogbe spoke about the spread of HIV/AIDS cases in the district and urged Community Based Organisations (CBOs) and NGOs engaged in public education on the menace to redouble their efforts.
Mr Kosi Kedem, Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe-South asked the people in the district to accept the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) wholeheartedly to enable them enjoy its benefits.
He, however, urged public educators on the scheme to tell the people the bare truth so that they do not get disappointed when the scheme goes into operation.
"The scheme is not entirely free when it comes to major operations. You would have to look for money to supplement whatever the scheme can afford," Mr Kedem said.
Mr Albert Agra, the Presiding Member, urged assembly members to educate their people on the need to honour their tax obligations to the assembly to enable it carry out development in the area.
