Kumasi, Jan. 4, GNA - KOJAC Pharmacy, a pharmaceutical firm based in Kumasi on Tuesday donated assorted drugs and two bags of rice worth 3.5 million cedis to some prisons in the country. The beneficiary prisons were Manhyia, the Amanfrom Settlement camp and Cape Coast.
Mr Martin Kwame Nyame, Catechist of the Ashanti Prison Ministry who received the items on behalf of the prisons expressed appreciation to Mr and Mrs Acheampong, Managers of the company for their kind gesture and assured them that the items would be distributed to the beneficiary prisons.
In a related development, KOJACH Pharmacy has also presented drugs worth three million cedis to the Missionaries of Charity Home at Mbrom in Kumasi for the treatment of the babies.
Atwima District supports Otumfuo Education Fund project
Nkawie (Ash), Jan. 4, GNA - The Atwima District Assembly will this year provide 136.7 million cedis being the last instalment of its counterpart funding for projects being undertaken in two communities in the district with the Otumfuo Education Fund.
Already the assembly has paid 28 million cedis towards the construction of a six-unit block of classrooms, libraries, staff common rooms, teachers' bungalows, boreholes, toilets and kitchen facilities for Anwiafutu and Asuofua.
Mr Charles Yeboah, Atwima District Chief Executive disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Nkawie on Friday. On the assembly's efforts to boost economic activities in the district he said, the Anokye Gari project would be completed this month after which the assembly would also resource 50 targeted women's groups financially.
The DCE said the assembly had also approved the immediate construction of a market at Otaakrom to boost economic activities in the town and its catchment area.
Mr Yeboah said communities like Boahenkwaa, Bankyiase and Nkontomire would also be provided with borehole to ease their water problem, while the ginger project at Gyankobaa, had been re-activated to create employment for the people.
