To convert a polytechnic into a technical university and claim this to be the German model is absolutely and extremely wrong, prof. adinkra Appiah. I do not know which technical university you attendedyourself or which German technical university you are referring to. But everything you have stated here is extremely wrong and out of place.
If you are an NDC member, you would suggest those lose arguments you have just labeled. But if you look at the real academic basis of the technical university a la Germany, then you are throwing so much dust into the eyes of every Ghanaian.
I want to let you know that I did attend two technical universities in Germany where I did earn my Dipl-Ing. and Dr-Ing, respectively. I know the concept of the technical universities in Germany very well.
In the English domain, I would like to teach you that universities like the Imperial College of Science and Technology, MIT, California Institute of Technology! Georgia Institute of Technology, etc., these are technical universities, NOT those bogus ones the NDC govt has imposed on Ghanaians.
Professor Adinkra Appiah needs to learn more about the institution he has the honor to serve as ViceChancellor and refrain from deceiving Ghanaians.

Ndc engaged in this foolishness just to inflate budgets nsd steal. Ndc will.find a reason to.change the national flag, national anthem. Inflated the budgets make changes. Nonsense! U make changes to meet population needs not to steal and lie. The emphasis should be om the strength of the courses,.programs and a rigor curriculum created to teach tech. This obviously involved a lot more work,.diligence and Discipline bjt ndc won't do that. Too conniving and lazy. It's like the leg of a chair is broken. Fix the leg...Mon,.ndc will say let's buy a whole new chair. They will inflate the costs and end up spend less money to buy a used chair and say..see,.problem solved!

In order to correct these NDC foolishness, the new govt must effect immediate corrections to this nonsense. We cannot deceive our youth who are the leaders of tomorrow that we can simply change a polytechnic to a technical university a la German model. This is absolute nonsensical and those who implemented this senseless paradigm must face firing squad.
Education is the most important backbone of any country that aspires to embrace science and technology. Therefore, the implementation of the educational infrastructures must be done correctly, and not politically.
The NDC had always antagonized education mainly because it's leadership has always lacked basic education.
Ghana must embrace basic and good education if we want to join the wave to civilization.

I attended Ghana Nautical College in the sixties, during that time we were given the opportunity to study Engineering from a practical approach that Prof. Appiah is suggesting. Honestly speaking, I was able to blend into the Technical world Overseas. I was able to establish my own corporation from the little I learnt from Ghana. My Secondary School class mates who studied liberal and theoretical Engineering, had, hard time in getting well paid jobs overseas. In short the technical and hand-on approach to education will lead Ghanaian graduates in the right direction of establishing their own manufacturing corporations . That is what Ghana needs to move into the production market, instead of relying on foreign countries to supply Ghana with basic necessity like Toilet rolls, Candles, Cutlass and Tractors for our farms.
I know of a University here in the USA, that applies the same strategy Prof. Appiah is suggesting. The name of the Institution is SCAD. That school is now filled to capacity with students from all over the world to sturdy the practical approach in innovation sturdies.
This issue of practical approach to education is not political, it is a transformational education system that will lead Ghana into self production in basic items of which we do not have in the mother land.
I will like to conclude that the Prof. should make available their contact address so that, those of us that have climbed the Corporate ladder can extend our hands of help. I pray that those in authority should listen to positive technical advice from the Ghanaian brains overseas. After all we are all Ghanaians, and our heart cry for piece and progress in the Mother land. No body want to take over their jobs, we are just trying to help. Any good and progressive corporation you find in World, especially, overseas, you will hear of a Ghanaian name. We need to tap in that area of Ghanaian expertise. Peace and long live Ghana.
