Accra, Jan. 13, GNA - An Accra Circuit on Tuesday warned Nana Afua Yaadwo, Queen Mother of Awoduah in the Wassa West District, and seven others to refrain from issuing threats to Nana Kwabena Angu II, the Chief of the town, in order to maintain peace in the area.

The court asked supporters of Nana Yaadwo and Nana Angu to refrain from issuing anonymous threats on telephone to each other and allow the matter to take its legal course.

The Judge, Mr Williwise Kyeremeh gave the warning when he admitted Abdulai Musah, a Driver and Karimu Musah, Alex Sampson, Kwaw Kreeku and Yahaya Moro, all farmers to 100 million cedis bail each.

Nana Yaadwo, Nana Kwasi Ansah, Odikro of Brahabebome, near Awoduah and Madam Gladys Keegya, a Linguist, are among nine people charged for allegedly conspiring to murder Nana Angu.

The Court further asked all the accused persons to be reporting to the Police once a month. The case has been adjourned to January 30. When sitting resumed today, Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Paul Frimpong told the Court that Nana Angu had informed him that he had been receiving anonymous threats and prayed the Court to advise the accused person.

Mr Wiafe Danquah, who represented the Nana Yaadwo, prayed the Court to admit four of the accused persons on bail as they had been in prison custody for a long time, adding, "they have learnt a lot of lessons at the cells".

Presenting the facts of the case earlier, ASP Frimpong said four months ago, Karimu Musah lost the father-in-law at Awoduah and Abudulai Musah and one Alhaji Fusieni, now at large, accompanied him to the funeral.

At the funeral, the Prosecutor said Fuseini and Abudulai Musah had the opportunity to interact with Nana Yaadwo.

The Prosecution said Nana Yaadwo told them about her plans to physically eliminate the Nana Angu because she alleged that he had misappropriated stool land royalties, which was paid to him.

"That, when he is eliminated she and her elders would also enjoy from the royalties," the Prosecutor said.

ASP Frimpong said the Nana Yaadwo exchanged mobile phones numbers with Abdulai and he promised to get people to do the job.

He said Fuseini subsequently engaged two macho men together with Karimu Musah and they went to Tarkwa to assassinate Nana Angu. Fuseini led them to Tarkwa and contacted Nana Yaadwo and Ansah, who paid 30 million cedis as part payment to Karimu Musah for the enterprise.

The macho men after collecting the money disappeared without accomplishing the task.

The Prosecutor said the Fuseini eager to fulfil his promise approached a Police Officer through a friend to recruit new people for the job.

He said the Police Officer feigned interest and agreed to recruit men for the exercise. The Police Officer informed the authorities and two Policemen were detailed to assist him.

The Prosecutor told the Court that on December 9, 2003, Fuseini delegated Karimu Musah to send the two Policemen, who had feigned interest in the enterprise to Tarkwa where they contacted Nana Yaadwo, who accommodated them.

During the night Fuseini sent Abdulai Musah to Tarkwa to inform Nana Yaadwo that he had dispatched men to Tarkwa as requested to kill Nana Angu.

Fuseini asked Nana Yaadwo to negotiate with the team on the mode of payment.

On December 10, 2003, a Police Monitoring Team was dispatched to Tarkwa.

The Prosecutor said Abdulai Musah, Karimu Musah, Nana Yaadwo, Ansah and Kyeegya met the two Policemen and held a series of meetings with them on the modus operandi of eliminating Nana Angu.

At their meeting, the Prosecutor said, Nana Yaadwo gave two photographs of Nana Angu to the Policemen for easy identification and also showed his house to them.

Nana Yaadwo, Ansah, Kyeegya and Sampson urged the Policemen to employ any means possible to assassinate Nana Angu.

The Policemen demanded a fee of 60 million cedis but Nana Yaadwo and Ansah promised to pay after the task had been accomplished. Nana Yaadwo then instructed Karimu Musah to take the Policemen round and to show them the routes of Nana Angu.

Nana Yaadwo gave out 100,000 cedis as seed money and another 140,000 cedis to the Policemen to buy snap card to refill their mobile phone for easy communication.

He said the Policemen arranged a final meeting with all the accused persons at the Nana Yaadwo's residence, where they were rounded up after the Police had been alerted.
