Badukrom, a border town in the Dormaa District to cement the cordial relations between Ghanaian and Ivorien residents of the town. Among those present was Prefect Issa Coulibaly, Minister of Tanda in Cote d'Ivoire.
Nana Seinti emphasized that since Ghana shared a common border with Cote d'Ivoire, it was appropriate for the Ghanaian leadership to help in resolving the problem to ensure peace in the country. He urged the residents of the town not to let the demarcation of the border to divide them but rather to bind them as one people.
Nana Seinti said during a recent visit, he noted that peace was returning to the neighbouring country and expressed the hope that the various factions in the crisis would come to terms with their government. We are hopeful that the good relations and rapport between the two countries will be strengthened to ensure their continued and steady development, he added.
Prefect Coulibaly expressed his satisfaction with the good relations and peaceful co-existence of Ghanaians and Ivoriens in the town and appealed to them to respect the laws of each country. He said the durbar was a testimony of the peace and good neighbourliness among the residents and advised them to maintain the spirit. The Ivorien Minister announced that plans were underway to invite Presidents Kufuor and Gbabgo to Kofi Badukrom for a meeting on peace and other issues.
Nana Baagye Agyeman II and Nana Kofi Apesika, the two chiefs of the town noted that residents had enjoyed relative peace, a practical demonstration of good neighbourliness. They expressed concern about lack of good roads, health facilities, electricity and water in the area and called on the government to provide such facilities to help improve the living conditions of residents. Nana Seinti and Prefect Coulibaly and their delegations later inspected the demarcation line and schools in the town.
