Agona Mankrong, C/R, Jan 23, GNA- The Agona Mankrong Area Council has instituted bye-laws to stop school children from roaming the streets after 2000 hours to instil discipline and raise standards of education. Parents who flout the laws would be fined 20,000 cedis for having allowed their children to go out in the night.
Mr Godson Bahu, Assemblyman for Mankrong/Akwakwaa Electoral Area who said this at a meeting of the council, said any parent who would fail to pay the penalty would be arrested and prosecuted. He said the byelaws had become necessary due to the fall in the standard of education in the area.
Mr Bahu said the council had enacted a byelaw to check stray animals and dumping of refuse indiscriminately.
Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, the District Chief Executive for Agona, assured the council members that the district assembly would ensure that those byelaws operated effectively.
He said good governance in the district would depend on the area council and unit committee members.
The DCE asked the council and unit committee members to desist from engaging in land and chieftaincy disputes and co-operate with the chiefs and opinion leaders to develop the area.
