Tepa (Ash), Jan. 26, GNA- Mr David Kwame Addai Amankwaah, 38, a tutor at the Tepa Secondary School was on Thursday endorsed as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ahafo-Ano North constituency for the 2004 elections at the party's congress at Tepa.

All the 172 delegates who attended the congress endorsed the candidature of Mr Amankwaah, who was nominated by the constituency executive in September last year under the supervision of the Electoral Commission (EC).

Addressing the delegates, Mr Emmanuel Nti-Fordjour, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC, said with the endorsement of the candidate, they should start the campaign and sustain it until the election.

He said the current high utility charges, high school fees, unemployment and poverty, were clear manifestation of the failure of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to fulfil its campaign promises.

He said the people were yearning for the return of the NDC to rescue them from these situations.

Mr Nti-Fordjour, however, cautioned them that the task ahead was not going to be easy and appealed to them to mobilise all the needed resources, bury their differences and unite to help the party win the elections.

Mr Amankwaah, who was the sole candidate, expressed his gratitude to the party executive and the congress for endorsing his nomination and assured them of his readiness for the task ahead.
