Chief dies at Mim-Achiase

Mim-Achiase (Ash), Jan.26, GNA- Oheneba Akwasi Boateng, Chief of Mim-Achiase near Abuakwa in the Atwima district who built the first school in his divisional area at his own expense has died at the age of 82.

Besides building the school, the late chief paid the salaries of six pupil teachers who taught in the school from 1944 to 1954, before the government took over the running of the school. Oheneba Boateng was also said to have sponsored the first 30 pupils of the school from class one to standard one, now Junior Secondary School form one and also constructed some feeder roads in the area which helped farmers to evacuate their foodstuffs to the urban centres.

Nana Badu Boakye Dankwa, the regent of the town said, Oheneba Boateng even though an illiterate, cherished education so much so that, he did everything possible to let his people have education. The late chief died on 31st December 2003, after a short illness and would be buried on 14th February 2004 at Mim Achiase.
